Tiling in Forest Hill.
Forest Hill sits just east of Wagga on the way to the airport and the base, a settled village of family homes on generous blocks, with a mix of older houses and newer builds. We tile the full range here: bathroom retiles, big floors and the outdoor areas that suit the larger blocks.
The Forest Hill tiling story.
A mix of housing, a mix of substrates.
Forest Hill and neighbouring Gumly Gumly are a real mix, which makes the substrate the first thing we assess on every job. There are older homes on suspended timber floors that need underlay and a flexible adhesive, and there are newer brick-veneer and slab homes where the question is whether the slab is flat enough for large-format tiles. Because Forest Hill blocks are generous, the floors here are often large, so getting the base true matters even more, a 20mm dip across a big living area shows badly in a 600 by 1200 tile. We level first, every time. Our floor tiling page explains how we prepare each base type.
Bathrooms that have to last.
Forest Hill is a hold-and-renovate community more than a flip-and-sell one, so when people retile a bathroom here they want it to last twenty years, not five. That suits how we work: the waterproofing is done to AS 3740 by a licensed waterproofer with bond breakers at the corners and a certificate for the file, the substrate is prepared properly, and the tiling is set out so the large-format tiles run square and the niche and shower detail are right. The unglamorous parts, the membrane and the prep, are exactly what make a bathroom still look and perform well two decades on.
Room for outdoor living.
The bigger blocks out at Forest Hill mean more outdoor entertaining areas: alfrescos, patios, the occasional pool surround. We tile these in external-grade porcelain laid to a proper fall with frost-tolerant adhesives, because the east of Wagga catches the same hard winter frosts as the rest of the Riverina and an outdoor area built with indoor materials lifts within a couple of seasons. See our outdoor and pool tiling page for the climate detail.
